About Superior Structural
In September 1969, Heinrich J. Hofmann and Clyde Minor began working together producing ornamental and balcony railings out of a two-car garage. Soon after, the business out grew the garage and relocated to an empty building in Waterford, Wisconsin. In 1972, Mr. Hofmann purchased Mr. Minor’s entire share of the business and incorporated as Hein Manufacturing Corp. As the business continued to grow, so did the need for a larger shop. For this reason, in 1974 Mr. Hofmann built the company's current 28,000 square foot plant on West Lincoln Avenue in New Berlin, Wisconsin. By 1983, the company had expanded its customized steel products to include ladders, stairs, fire escapes and light structural steel. With the broadened area of expertise came the need for a descriptive company name. As a result, Mr. Hofmann formed New Berlin Ornamental Iron & Specialty Company Corp. Years later, that company’s name was changed to Superior Structural Corporation as a result of its successful growth and diversification. Since 1972, the company has been privately owned and operated by the Hofmann family. In 1993, Mr. Hofmann passed away leaving it to his wife, Renate E. Hofmann, and their children.
